Equality monitoring - please help us to improve our service

The Legal Ombudsman is committed to providing a high standard of service to everyone. We want to treat people fairly and equally, whatever their individual needs and backgrounds.

To help us do this, we ask people to provide information about themselves relating to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). You do not have to share this information. However, any answers you do give will be completely anonymous.

We will only use the information for monitoring purposes – helping us ensure we are treating people fairly and equally, and to identify and address any barriers to accessing our service.

What is monitored?

There are eight types of personal information that we ask about.

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Race and ethnicity
  • Sex
  • Gender re-assignment
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Religion or belief
  • Sexual Orientation

Do I have to answer the monitoring questions?

No - you do not have to take part in the monitoring process, but your answers will help us to improve our service and ensure it is accessible to everyone.

You can choose to answer all the questions, some of them, or none at all. Even if you don’t want to answer all of them, any information you do give will be helpful to us.
