Working together to improve outcomes in legal services

Since our last update we’ve delivered new training focused on specific areas of law, run our recently-developed course on setting remedies and met face to face with representatives from across the legal sector.

This engagement is part of our focus on working collaboratively with the legal sector, sharing our experience to influence better outcomes for those relying on legal services – something we’ll be looking to expand on under the OLC’s new strategy.

We’ve recently delivered subject-specific training, highlighting the complaints we receive about conveyancing, personal injury and litigation, as well as family law, will and probate. These refreshed sessions have been very well-received, and we’re now planning our programme for the coming months.

In October we met delegates at the SRA’s Annual Compliance Conference, receiving positive feedback about our shift toward the early resolution of complaints. Ombudsman Jason Chapman presented a break-out session on remedies for first-tier complaints, following the launch of new online training on this earlier in the year.
Our ombudsman Simon Williams also shared our experience of resolving complaints about costs with delegates at PI Futures.

Other forums and events we’ve attended included the LSB’s strategy event in Wales, the National Law Society Conference, Bournemouth Compliance Conference and Legal Wales.

You can stay up to date with opportunities to meet us, whether that’s at a sector event or a LeO training session, on social media and our website.
