Supporting Race Equality Week

We’re supporting Race Equality Week and are pledging to take forward our commitments to achieving race equality, which has included signing up to the Race at Work Charter.

Chief Ombudsman, Paul McFadden, said:

‘I am pleased to offer the full support of the Legal Ombudsman to Race Equality Week and to be joining many others behind the theme of ‘Transparency, Accountability, Action’. This week we have reinforced our commitment of race equality to Staff. We are now taking a number of steps to translate these commitments into meaningful action. It is important that our commitments are translated into meaningful action and we will continue to work with and listen to colleagues to tackle the barriers that many in society continue to face.’

Chair of the OLC, Elisabeth Davies, said:

"Black Lives Matter was a very real reminder last year about how much more needs to be done to achieve race equality in the workplace.  Many organisations across the legal services sector are making the most of this opportunity to hold up a mirror, honestly assessing their own working practices and culture.  This is an important chance for the Office for Legal Complaints and the Legal Ombudsman to do the same, visibly committing to change and following these commitments up with actions."
