Additional support from the Legal Ombudsman

We are committed to making sure the way we work doesn’t put you at a disadvantage. If you need additional support from us, we can be flexible about how we provide our service to you.

  • You may have a mental impairment which includes conditions such as dyslexia and autism, as well as learning disabilities such as Down syndrome.

  • You may have a mental health condition such as depression, anxiety or bi-polar disorder; or

  • You may need extra support because you are going through a big event or difficult time, such as a divorce, or a bereavement.

Here are some of the things we can do to support you:

  • We can fill out the complaint form for you

  • Allow you more time to provide information

  • Use email or the telephone instead of letters

  • We can agree on times to call you

  • We can take more time to explain things

  • We can number paragraphs in emails and letters to make things easier to understand

  • We can send you a written summary of our conversations

  • We can communicate through a representative

  • We can arrange a single point of contact here at the Legal Ombudsman.

Additional support:

If you need any additional help or support, please tell us about it and we will do our best to meet your needs.

We also understand that your circumstances might change, along with the support that you need, so please let us know at any time and we will consider your request.

We can’t promise to do everything, but we will do our best to meet your needs where possible.
