Case study

The case:

Mr D asked a solicitor to act for him in his divorce in 2016. Although Mr D was happy with the service he received from his solicitor, he was unhappy with his ex-wife’s solicitor as he felt they had caused delays and had not submitted documents to court in time.

Mr D’s complaint was out of jurisdiction. Mr D is only able to complain to the Legal Ombudsman about the service his solicitor provided to him, and not about the actions of someone else’s solicitor.
