After completing her legal studies, Shamaila gained practical experience focusing on mediation and dispute resolution working in family, personal injury, and probate matters. She then moved into project management and led training programmes for ex-offenders and vulnerable groups specialising in personal development and conflict resolution training. Shamaila joined the Legal Ombudsman in 2010 as an investigator and has worked on a wide range of complex legal complaints. She is a trainer for new staff and also a member of the CPD training team delivering external courses to members of the profession. Shamaila was appointed to the role of Ombudsman in 2015.
