The Legal Services Board (LSB) today announced the appointments of Stella Manzie CBE (lay member) and Professor Philip Plowden (non-lay member) as new members of our board – the Office for Legal Complaints (OLC). The board is responsible for the administration of the Legal Ombudsman scheme and oversees our work. The vacancies arise with the terms of Margaret Doyle and Professor Mary Seneviratne ending on 31 March 2014. Stella and Philip will begin their tenure along with new board chairman, Steve Green.
Commenting on the announcement, David Edmonds, LSB Chairman, said: “I am delighted with these appointments. Stella and Philip bring with them impressive skills and experience, which I am confident will be of significant value to the OLC Board as it moves into the next phase of its development. I wish them every success.”
Elizabeth France, chair of the board, added: “In welcoming Stella and Philip to the OLC, I would also like to thank Margaret and Mary for their invaluable contribution to the establishment of the Legal Ombudsman.”
Steve Green, incoming chair, said: “I look forward to working with Stella and Philip and the rest of the existing board members when I officially start work in April. Their track records will no doubt stand them in good stead to take the board and Legal Ombudsman forward.”
The new members have both been appointed from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2017.
