Fair, open, effective, shrewd and independent

We are set up by Parliament to resolve complaints between lawyers and consumers. We are an independent body that will not take sides.

To carry out our role effectively, we need to work cooperatively with a number of other organisations. These include official bodies such as the Legal Services Board, legal regulators and we are currently developing agreements with other Ombudsman schemes.

We have entered into a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with relevant bodies and we are in the process of developing a number of others. These MoUs provide the framework for how we will work with these other bodies and cover any arrangements for the exchange of information.
